Happy Book Birthday!

Hi, folks! I haven’t been blogging much (obviously), but I’ve been busy with other stuff. One of those stuffs is my new book!

Piper Deez and the Case of the Winter Planet is a space noir mystery novella that plays with some old school hardboiled noir and puts it in outer space, ala Blade Runner, with a little taste of Outland. My publisher describes it as hardboiled sleuthing fused with interplanetary politics. That sounds about right. It’s also a fun, little tale that I hope you’ll enjoy.

Piper’s story is available through Candlemark & Gleam. It’s the second release by C&G’s new imprint for shorter works, Reckless. For the low, low price of $3.00, you’ll get a DRM-free digital bundle that’s readable on any device and you’ll be supporting indie publishing. Hard to beat!

It’s Here!

Hi, all! Long time, no blogging. I hope you’ve all been well. How many of you are still around?

Remember last summer when I told you about my story “Chlorophyll Is Thicker Than Water,” and how it had just been accepted for publication in Athena Andreadis’ anthology To Shape the Dark? Well, the book came out on May 1! What a wonderful day for a book birthday!

I’m so excited to be a part of this collection. I hope you all can get a chance to read it. Keep an eye out for a giveaway.

New Story Appearing Soon!

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted regularly. There’s been a book review here and there, a repost even less seldom. Nothing about my own writing in ages. Why is that? Continue reading

Wrestling With Gods – A Review

wrestling Wrestling With Gods: Tesseract Eighteen

Hades Publications (April 2015)
science fiction/fantasy
4.125/5

Wrestling With Gods is an interesting collection of speculative stories and poems having to do with faith. I was a tad skeptical when I first received this Early Reviewer book from LibraryThing because, well, I’m kinda skeptical in general and even moreso where faith is involved. Fortunately, in this case, my skepticism was unfounded. Continue reading

 Angel Manor

I love a good haunted house story. Shirley Jackson‘s The Haunting of Hill House remains one of my favorite novels and one of my favorite films (the original, of course). I was thrilled to finally read The Shining recently. It’s a classic for a reason and one of King’s best (and better than the film, in my opinion). And then there are the sillier haunted house films that I love, especially House on Haunted Hill (again, the original). Continue reading

Hi, everyone! My brain decided that the first weeks of January was blog vacation time, it would seem. Fair enough. It’s a good time of year to reset. Not sure what I’ve reset to, but I guess time will tell. Continue reading

Chain of Evil by Michael R. Collings – A Review

Chain of Evil

I’ve had a mixed experience with the books that JournalStone publishes. The last JournalStone book I received through LibraryThing‘s Early Reviewer program didn’t do much for me. On the other hand, I found Mr. October to be a fairly strong collection and I have high hopes for JournalStone’s latest collection Out of Tune (it’s edited by Jonathan Maberry and contains a story from Seanan McGuire, among others–how can I not?). Continue reading
