A little late with my Monday video today. Sorry about that. I’m using the fact I’m still recovering from an awesome, busy vacation as my excuse. Spent last week visiting friends in Maryland and Philadelphia. So good to see some of the people I love best in all the world.
One of those visits involved movie-watching. We had the pleasure of seeing 20 Feet from Stardom and discovering/putting a name to many singers we only knew from the voices, if at all. One of those women is Lisa Fischer. What a voice she has. I’m so glad I discovered her, even though I’m wicked late to join the bandwagon. Here. Check out what I mean.
Fischer performing at a screening of 20 Feet from Stardom. Isn’t she amazing?
And here’s her 1991 Grammy-winning tune, “How Can I Ease the Pain.”
And finally, here’s what has become her regular gig, singing with the Rolling Stones, recreating Merry Clayton‘s role in “Gimme Shelter.”
