This feels awkward to write about, because it’s rather personal. But I think I should use my little soapbox I have here for good as much as I can.
Let’s start off with this. My grandfather died of colon cancer back in the 1940s. His was a slow, painful death. No fun at all and something I would like to avoid, if I possibly can.
Thus, by the time you read this, I’ll be in town getting my second colonoscopy in three years.
I’m lucky. I have decent health insurance that covers the procedure. And I’m glad I do. The first colonoscopy found a precancerous polyp that the doctor removed. Hopefully, he won’t find anything new this time, but if he does, he can snip that one out, too.
All that info to say that colon cancer is preventable. If you’re 50 or older, or have a history of colon cancer in your family, you ought to have a colonoscopy. It could save your life.
There. Now I’m going to step off my soapbox and leave you with a video for the day. Here’s CCR with “Lookin’ Out My Back Door.” Yeah. Couldn’t help myself.
This will go on my list of things to do, once I have insurance. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
